Note : Perhaps the species could be divide into several ssp. : ssp. tonkinensis : from Thailand to Vietnam and Taiwan; ssp. andamanus from Andaman Is. and Nicobar Is.; ssp. ? from Malaya and Sumatra; ssp. opacus = bonasus = taurus (mandibles with the tooth close of terminal fork) from Borneo and Java; ssp. ? from Philippines; and, ssp. rugosus = brevis from Sulawesi to New Guinea.
